1 year checkup

Elsa went to the doctor today. Everything looked great and she's doing well. Here are her stats:

Height: 30 1/4" (90th %)
Weight: 19 lbs 4oz (25th %)

Still tall and skinny, just like her dad.

Here she is hugging her new lifesized stuffed puppy. I've told her to hug it so many times, that now she just does it every time she sees it. Aw!

Fun at the zoo

Elsa had lots of fun at the zoo. She especially liked the fish, giraffe, and polar bears.

She even had fun in the car. Here we are in the Cheapo parking lot while Tim ran in to by some tunes for our drive home.

After we got back to Wyoming, we hit the new library and got a library card, then went to the thrift store. In the evening we had the family stop by for some visiting and cake. Again, Elsa daintily picked frosting off the top and never dug into the cake or made a mess, even after we showed her how. Here she is just before bed in her birthday hat, still smiling. The perfect end to a very fun first birthday.

Happy First Birthday!

Here is Elsa's birthday photo taken earlier this month.

Here she is one year ago. Can we believe it? No. She’s grown so much in just 1 year. She cruises furniture, can say words, and will do what you tell her to do, like "comb your hair" or "hug the bear". We love you!

We’re going to the zoo today and will post pics when we get back.

Party girl

Last Sunday we had an early birthday party for Elsa (Her real birthday is August 22). We hung out outside, grilled, and had good weather. Thanks everyone for coming! We all had a great time. Isn't Elsa's cake cute? A family friend was kind enough to offer to make it for us. We went with a farm animal theme. The Little People farm was her big gift from mom and dad.

Dad, Elsa and Mom. Elsa's rockin' the freshly washed party hair spike.

Elsa also had her very own small circular cake. As you can see, she looks a bit tired at this point. This is about as much as she dug into it. After we cut her a slice, she took demure little bites and even offered some to Tim and I. We're going to rile her up and try again on her actual birthday.

After the party, was the after party. And like all good after parties, Elsa ended up sans pants, wearing a clashing outfit and gorging herself on apples.

Elsa liked her presents, but what she really wanted for her 1st birthday was a tattoo. I cut her a deal. She could have a tattoo, but only if it said "MOM".

Elsa update

Last week, Elsa started crawling around the house, babbling,"tiggo tiggo tiggo ticko TICKO!" What a crazy kid, I thought. Who knows what she's saying, but it sure is cute. A few days later, she started doing it again right after i'd been tickling her. Duh - tickle tickle tickle! I'm new at this baby talk thing.

Elsa has been pulling up to stand for awhile now, but just last week started pulling up on everything with no hesitation. She's very careful when she sits back down. She very sloowwly lowers herself halfway, and then it doesn't feel right so she stands up and tries again. I keep a hand behind her just in case, but she always lands on her diaper and crawls away in victory.

Even though she's not looking at the camera, something about this picture is so cute. I think it's the big cheeks and tiny muscular arms.

New pool

Elsa can't ever tell us she didn't have a pool growing up. Here it is!
We put her in yesterday afternoon and she had a blast. At first she sat and splashed a little, then a lot, then started crawling around, then put her hands on the edge of the pool and stood up on her feet. Then, things went awry. Her little wet hands slipped off the edge and she did a face-plant into the dirt and dead grass. She even had dirt and grass in her mouth. It was so sad!
New rule: no more standing in the pool.
