Babes in the 'hood

It was another fabulous week in Wyoming, MN. I tell ya, I love this stay-at-home business. We were visited by lots of family, and my sis (a.k.a. The Boss) came up from the city. Of course, I also went to the weekly Cornerstone Convention on Thursday. Elsa went shopping and behaved very well in two restaurants. It's good to know we can eat in public without incident.

The Man of the house has gone to the city this evening, to rapture audiences with his musical expertise. I wish I could be there, but I know the boys will be playing for years, so I have time to make it up.

I'm in search of the perfect Wyoming postcard. Oprah has this contest going on, and I aim to win. I don't really feel a need - I just want to. I figure if I send in just the right postcard with my entry, i'll have a better chance. "Wyoming is great - but I miss you!" won't do - no, i'm looking for something bleak, something that screams "I need a spa vacation". I'm seeing... snow, and a desolate-looking Wyoming water tower. If anyone is in possession of such a card, let me know. Otherwise, I might just have to take the photo myself. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. I'm sure I have a great chance - Oprah doesn't have that many fans, does she?

5 months old...

... and sitting up with assistance pretty well.

We had a good weekend. Saw some friends and even walked around outside in our snowy Minnesota wonderland. Saturday morning we saw 6 deer in our backyard. They come around quite a bit - I hope to get a picture of them next time.

A baby cuter than me? That's hilarious!

Chuck Taylor, meet your new spokesbaby. This is what Elsa wears when she's out on the streets. Shirt and pants, courtesy of Auntie Jenny. Baby Converse All Stars, courtesy of Auntie Emma. Nice work, ladies.

Here's our gal posing in a 'must have' for the season: supersoft fleece jammies. And look! She can almost sit up unassisted. I had to help her in order to take the picture, but otherwise, when i'm not waiting 10 seconds for my flash to go off, she sits for about 5 seconds on her own.

Elsa loves to bite on her hands. Any digit will do - sometimes all five at once. She never took to a pacifier. They stay in for about 5 seconds before she spits them out. Anyone need, like, 5 used pacifiers?

Holiday Toy Roundup

Elsa's first Christmas! It was another great year, with great food, family, and gifts. Elsa got a bunch of excellent books, clothes, and toys. I forgot how much I love toys. They're just cool. Check out all the ones she got!

Included in the loot was a tiny toy piano. Look at her wail! She loves it already.

Here she is in X-mas outfit #1. Her telltale "angry crooked mouth" marks the end of the party.

Here is X-mas outfit #2. Photo was taken BEFORE another party. This is when all pictures should be taken. Obviously.

Just after Christmas, we started her on cereal and pears. It's a messy process, but she's really getting the hang of it. YUM!
